JAZZ AGE, THE ROARING TWENTIES

12 september 2015 tot en met 13 maart 2016

NL - Van 12 september 2015 tot en met 13 maart 2016 nodigt Modemuseum Hasselt de bezoekers uit binnen te treden in de magnifieke en tot de verbeelding sprekende wereld van de Roaring Twenties.
De tentoonstelling toont geen chronologisch overzicht maar is opgevat als een wandeling langs verschillende thema’s die de boeiende geschiedenis en de context schetsen van deze ravissante periode.

Daarnaast heeft de tentoonstelling ook aandacht voor de manier waarop de twenties de hedendaagse mode beïnvloeden.
In de jaren 20 waait er een vernieuwende tijdsgeest. Het gevolg is een innovatieve stijl die flirt met het modernisme en breekt met gevestigde waarden. De nieuwe moraal en sociale etiquette schrijven een heel andere mode voor, en onder impuls van avant garde kunststromingen wordt de mode in vraag gesteld. Dat deze periode inspireert bewijzen de talloze creaties die gepresenteerd worden op de catwalk. Ontwerpers grijpen graag terug naar elementen uit de jaren 1920. Niet voor niets liggen de principes van dit bruisende decennium aan de grondslag van de hedendaagse mode.

ENG - From 12 September 2015 to 13 March 2016, Modemuseum Hasselt invited visitors to enter the magnificent and evocative world of the Roaring Twenties.
The exhibition did not present a chronological overview but was conceived as a walk along various themes that outline the fascinating history and context of this ravishing period.

In addition, the exhibition also focused on the way in which the twenties influenced contemporary fashion.
In the 1920s, an innovative spirit of the times prevailed. The result is an innovative style that flirts with modernism and breaks with established values. The new morals and social etiquette dictated a completely different fashion, and fashion was questioned by avant garde art movements. That this period inspires is proven by the countless creations presented on the catwalk. Designers like to hark back to elements from the 1920s. It is not without reason that the principles of this vibrant decade form the basis of contemporary fashion.
